I’m an Art Historian who researches, writes and lectures on India and colonialism. I curate and advise on exhibitions, academic publications and other projects. My newest book, The Art of a Corporation, explores the East India Company's history through the lens of artworks in London.
Originally from Canada, I received my doctorate in Art & Archaeology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. My first book, The Courts of Pre-Colonial South India, is based on my PhD thesis.
I worked in the British Library's India Office Collections for 15 years, first as a British Academy post-doctoral scholar, then as Curator of Prints and Drawings. My second book, Illustrating India: The Early Colonial Investigations of Colin Mackenzie, was a British Library supported project funded by the John Paul Getty Foundation and the British Academy.
Research is my passion. I enjoy digging around colonial archives in search of compelling, overlooked stories that connect with India's history. I live with my husband and my son just outside of London.
